The Foundation for Research and Technology – Hellas (FORTH), established in 1983, is the largest Greek State R&D Centre. FORTH hosts six major Research Institutes. The Institute of Computer Science (ICS) has established an internationally acknowledged excellence in conducting basic and applied research, developing applications and products, and providing services. FORTH, besides its pioneering contributions in the sector of Information and Telecommunications Technologies in Greece, cooperates, in the context of European and international collaborative R&D programmes, with universities, research centres and other organisations at national and international level, thus contributing to the exchange of scientific ideas and the creation and transfer of new technologies. The research directions at ICS take into consideration the state of the art, international trends, research and technological challenges worldwide, as well as the national needs of the public and private sectors. FORTH represents Greece in the European Research Consortium for Informatics and Mathematics (ERCIM), an organisation dedicated to the advancement of European research and development in the areas of information technology and applied mathematics.

SIMPLAN AG is a company focused on process improvement technologies for manufacturing, logistics, and transportation companies. SimPlan offers simulation studies, simulation software, applications for manufacturing systems control as part of MES systems as well as support, maintenance, training, and consultancy services in these fields. Major sectors served are automotive, chemical, intralogistics, semiconductor, transportation and machinery. About 60 employees (engineers, computers scientists, mathematicians) are working in seven offices in Germany. Additional 55 employees are located in affiliated companies in Austria, China, and Germany. With an annual turnover of about 14.8 M€ (2016, Group), SimPlan is a typical SME. Since its foundation in 1992 SimPlan has conducted more than 1,200 projects in industry, with about half of these projects including research content. SimPlan is continuously developing software applications in the field of simulation as well as manufacturing and transportation control and has experience in participating in research projects on European, national, and regional level. SimPlan owns a broad knowledge in the field of discrete-event simulation, agent-based simulation, virtual commissioning (emulation), and in various optimization approaches. In developing software applications, SimPlan is following a dedicated software engineering approach.

Sphynx Technology Solutions AG (STS) in Zug, Switzerland, is a developer of products, solutions and consulting services in the areas of cyber intelligence, analytics, incident response, assurance and certification. The technologies offered by STS include sophisticated event processing and analytics, security monitoring and testing, intrusion detection, and incident response. STS deploys off-the-shelf hardware components along with its custom software to provide tools including its security analytics engine, mutli-layer monitoring platform, and a security audit and certification platform. Via its consulting services, STS provides customized solutions depending on client needs as well as more general training on analytics, security assessment and certification and cyber intelligence.

Università degli Studi di Milano (UMIL) is a major higher education and research institutions in Italy, offering degrees in all areas of science and humanities. The Secure Service– oriented Software Architectures Research (SESAR) Lab (http://sesar.di.unimi.it/) led by Prof. Ernesto Damiani was established in 2003. It is part of the Department of Computer Science of the Università degli Studi di, The SESAR lab has a staff of 10 full–time researchers and post–docs, plus a number of Ph.D. candidates with experience in several fields including security certification of software/services, mobile geolocation and privacy, formal verification of distributed systems, empirical software engineering and cloud testing and monitoring. Long-term grants from major companies, such as, Telecom Italia, Nokia Siemens Networks, fund several SESAR Lab‘s current researches.

IBM Israel Science and Technology Limited, better known as IBM Research – Haifa, was first established in 1972. Since then, the lab has conducted decades of research vital to IBM’s success. The lab is one of 9 research laboratories located outside of the United States, and has close working relationships with IBM Israel and its twin research laboratory in Zurich. In Haifa, 75 percent of the technical staff have MSc or PhD degrees in computer science, electrical engineering, mathematics, or related fields. Employees are actively involved in teaching at Israeli higher education institutions and in supervising post-graduate theses.


The Social Engineering Academy (SEA) provides Cyber-security training focusing on the human aspects. Our interactive trainings focus on serious games, which allow employees of companies involved in security activities in an enjoyable and sustainable way. While still preserving a playful character, serious games are used for e.g. security education and threat analysis. We provide a number of different games for classroom trainings, In-house trainings and web-based trainings. These games are adaptable for various customer scenarios and security learning goals. Furthermore, all of our products are based on thorough academic research.


Information Technology for Market Leadership (ITML) G.P. is a fast-growing company composed of a hierarchical team of electrical and computer engineers, as well as software developers and external consultants from the academia.In particular, ITML comprises numerous selected, internationally recognized and multi-experienced electrical and computer engineers, who have been conducting research at an international level (through their participation in EU funded R&D projects in the area of ICT) in all areas related to telecommunication networks and services, energy efficiency, transportation and security. Established in 1745, the Technische Universität Braunschweig (TUBS) is the oldest technical university in Germany with Carl Friedrich Gauß as one of its early students and lecturers. Embedded systems are one of the core research areas of the EE department that continuously ranks in the top 10 EE departments in Germany.

 CZ.NIC is a non-profit organization established in 1998 by leading ISPs in the Czech Republic. Its key activities include operation of domain name registry for the .CZ top-level domain, management and operation of the national Computer Security Incident Response Team CSIRT.CZ, public education and awareness in the area of information technologies as well as research and development. The most significant output in this area is represented by unique secure-by-design TURRIS router, which is completely based on open technologies. CZ.NIC also developed TABLEXIA game, an educational app for children with dyslexia. Last, but not least, under Connecting Europe Facility programme, CZ.NIC is implementing the national activities focused on child safety on-line.

Lightsource Labs (LSE) established in 2016 in Dublin as the innovations arm of Lightsource Renewable Energy. Lightsource Renewable Energy, founded in 2010 is a global leader in the funding, development and long-term operation of solar PV projects. Lightsource’s revenue model is focused on capturing value throughout the life of the asset, integrating in-house development, operational management and contracted income (25-30 years+) and deep asset financing expertise to optimise competitiveness.

AReSS Puglia (ARESS), the regional healthcare agency, is the technical facilitator of the regional government’s healthcare service. In cooperation with the health districts and the hospital trusts, the agency organises and provides the healthcare services of the region, guaranteeing an adequate delivery of service. Among others, it is responsible with the implementation of an integrated approach to chronic patients according to Puglia’s Chronic Care Model, which includes the use of remote monitoring/ teleservice.
